Industrial and petrochemical wastewater treatment systems are exposed to variable organic loads, oil and grease accumulation, nitrogen-related challenges, and fluctuations that can reduce biological process stability. Conventional treatment approaches may require additional chemical inputs, operational interventions, and increased sludge management, resulting in higher treatment costs and reduced resource efficiency. There is a need for adaptable biological solutions that can improve process stability, enhance contaminant removal, reduce chemical dependency, and support more efficient use and potential reuse of treated water.
Mikromiks proposes a site-adaptive microbial biotechnology platform based on high-density, multi-functional microbial consortia developed for industrial wastewater treatment and environmental applications. Rather than applying a generic microbial product, the solution is tailored according to wastewater characteristics, treatment objectives, and operational conditions. Selected microbial formulations can support organic load reduction, nitrogen removal, oil and grease degradation, hydrolysis of complex organics, and overall biological process stability. The technology can be integrated into existing treatment systems with limited additional infrastructure and supported by application-specific dosing, monitoring, and technical follow-up. The proposed SOCAR PoC will adapt and validate this existing microbial technology platform under SOCAR-specific operating conditions.
