Farmers usually sell their products at the spot market as soon as they harvest them. The prices are not profitable if the supply to the market is high at the time of harvesting. In addition, they have a significant loss if the weather conditions are harsh at the time of harvesting, decomposition losses may reach to 10 to 25%. Refrigerated storage systems are not feasible at small scales. In addition, operational cost of storage systems are high due to high electrical prices and consumption.

Innovative storage systems will be key solution for a sustainable agricultural production. Refrigerated warehouses will let the farmers to buy time to sell their products at a profitable price later on by keeping them in good condition. Cold warehouses will also decrease the decomposition and waste of products which will increase the gross sale amount. In addition, this system can be used for other products if farmer produces milk,cheese, fish etc.
