As the Kabarcık Bariyeri team, we developed a system about a year ago where we can catch plastic debris in rivers before they reach the seas. After being accepted to the TÜBİTAK 1512 Program, we realized our baby incorporation. This system we have developed creates a bubble curtain by giving compressed air to a perforated pipe under water. When this bubble curtain is placed in a cross direction to the river flow, it directs the pollution and collects the pollution at the determined point. Thanks to the waste collection system we have developed, we purify the collected pollution in the river before it reaches the sea. Since the bubble barrier works with an upward flow from under the water, it provides not only a surface cleaning, but also a holistic cleaning in the river, based on the river cross-section. The system we have developed, we aim to prevent pollution only by mechanical means, without using any chemicals. Assuming IBB as our customer. According to the data of Ocean Cleanup, which studies plastic pollution in the oceans, Golden Horn Bay transfers one and a half million kilograms of plastic to the oceans annually. With a Kabarcık Bariyeri installed in the Golden Horn Bay, an annual plastic recycling share of 9 million TL is envisaged. If we make the same calculation on the basis of Kurbağalı Stream, there is a plastic recycling share of 3 million TL. This means a total profit share of 12 million for a single municipality from only two locations. At the same time, if we look at not only the plastic recycling market, but also what Turkey loses from plastic garbage, according to the data of Ocean Cleanup, plastic garbage has a great impact on sectors such as tourism and fishing, as well as the environmental impact of plastic garbage. Turkey has an annual loss of 99 million dollars in terms of plastic garbage alone. We are here to avoid these wastes.
