Composite materials are widely used in industrial applications thanks to their reliable mechanical properties, machinability, and durability. 89% of the market is dominated by carbon and glass-fiber composites; in other words, synthetic materials. Manufacturing of these materials is energy-intensive and generates high CO2 emissions; even worse, reuse/recyclability is extremely limited.
We have developed natural fiber composites in the form of unidirectional prepregs to provide the highest mechanical performance possible. BPREG’s patent-pending manufacturing method overcomes the obstacles in manufacturing affordable and scalable high-performance textile-based biocomposites. We engineer fibers of flax/hemp plants to transform them first into novel-design yarns and then into strong, lightweight, sustainable composites named “EcoRein”.
