Problem
HEs (Shell and tube, double pipe, plate heat exchangers etc.) consume side streams such as steam, hot water. Side streams are generated in auxiliary units which requires extra investment and risky equipment as boilers. In boilers, fuel (coral, gas etc) is used to generate vapor, and results in carbon footprint. Additionally, conversion and transfer of heat to the HEs with miscellaneous components such as pipes and pumps reduce efficiency of energy due to loses to the ambient.
Solution
Our system runs with electricity (next step is adapting renewable sources) with high efficiency, therefore, it leads zero carbon emission. Our system does not require any side streams, therefore, water usage decreases, no extra auxiliary unit and miscellaneous parts required. Consequently, investment cost can be reduced by %40 and processing cost can be reduced by %50. These results were calculated by preliminary studies which were published as well.
