Problem
The inequality of opportunities in underdeveloped and developing countries condemn milions of people to live a life of survival, without access to education or a decent work. However, conventional and decorative craft making is not a viable solution in today's marketing, which favors serial manufacturing and contemporary design. For this reason, many NGO and public initiated craft workshops can not sustain themselves due to a weak 'product-market fit'.
Solution
As Joon, we are reaching disadvantaged producers through NGO’s and civil initiatives. On our platform, we bring them together with designers and prospective customers. We are designing transforming conventional crafts into objects for daily use with contemporary design. By profiling producers, designers can design according to their limitations and expand boundaries with digital tools. The resulting objects are presented on our sales platform, involving B2B and B2C sales.
